HON. DR. PRINCESS ADESOLA AYOOLA-ELEGBEJI HOLDS YOUTH STAKEHOLDERS CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON LEGISLATIVE AGENDA AND STRATEGIC REPRESENTATION

Ikenne, Ogun State – February 19, 2026

Hon. Dr. Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji, Member representing Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency, held a Youth Stakeholders Consultative Meeting to engage young leaders on her legislative agenda, constituency interventions, and strategic direction for Remo land.

The meeting commenced with a solemn tribute to the Late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga IJAYA, honouring her impactful legislative service and enduring contributions to the growth and representation of Remo Federal Constituency.

During her presentation, the Honourable Member outlined the bills she has sponsored and motions she has presented at the National Assembly in pursuit of constituency development. She spoke about her advocacy for the creation of Ijebu State and her position on the establishment of additional Local Governments in Remo land to ensure fair structural balance. She also referenced her motion for the construction of bridges at Sagamu Express Junction, RSS Junction, and Delabo Junction.

She highlighted interventions that have been facilitated or are ongoing across the constituency. These include strengthened security engagement in Remo land, road construction and erosion control projects in Sagamu Local Government, installation of solar street lighting in Ikenne Local Government, as well as road construction and other capital projects in Remo North Local Government.

She further spoke on the industrial expansion currently taking place in Remo land and the economic opportunities it presents. She explained that while some initiatives have been delivered and others are ongoing, certain proposals remain at legislative or advocacy stages. She stressed that development is a continuous process that requires sustained effort and collaboration. She reaffirmed that she is putting in her best for the betterment of Remo land.

Comrade Gbenga Odumosu appealed for wider distribution of projects beyond Sagamu and requested support for installation of security cameras in strategic areas. He also called for expanded skills development programmes. In response, She stated that the engagement was deliberately brought to Ikenne Local Government and maintained that Ikenne has not been neglected, citing various interventions facilitated in collaboration with relevant authorities.

Comrade Diko, Chairman of NYCN Ikenne Branch, appealed for structured skill empowerment programmes, activation of the skill acquisition centre, and support for WAEC fee payments.

Comrade Yaya Onagbesan appreciated the engagement and requested that such consultations be held at least twice annually. He also appealed for increased employment opportunities for Remo youths in federal and state institutions.

She reiterated her preference for skills training, equipment support, and structured empowerment over temporary measures. She expressed the need for a designated youth contact person who would compile a comprehensive list of those seeking employment to enhance coordination. She encouraged young people to remain informed about available opportunities.

Comrade Adebayo, Chairman of NYCN Sagamu Branch, proposed non-interest business loans for youths.

Comrade Olokodanna recommended the establishment of a Youth Advisory Council to serve as a liaison on youth-related matters. The meeting resolved to constitute the Remo Youth Advisory Council. She also informed participants that the Minister of Youth has assured her of support for youth training initiatives, including programmes targeted at women.

Comrade Dotun Opaleye, Sub Dean Student Affairs, Gateway Polytechnic Sapade, commended the initiative and appealed for continuity of such engagements. He affirmed the support of Remo youths for her representation.

Comrade Ashaye Abdulrazak raised concerns about the unstable power supply in Sagamu and described the situation as troubling for residents and businesses. She explained her ongoing engagement with the Minister of Power on the matter. She noted that the existing power infrastructure was installed when Remo was less developed and is now overstretched due to rapid growth.

Hon. Dr. Princess Ayoola-Elegbeji described the opportunity to represent Remo as a rare privilege and expressed her readiness to continue serving with the support of the people.

The youths collectively affirmed that sustainable empowerment through skills training, grants, and equipment should remain the priority rather than informal transport employment schemes.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Comrade Muyiwa Osilaru, who appreciated the initiative and called for sustained engagement.

Among those in attendance were Comrade Abidemi Solarin, Chairman, Remo Youth Association, Asiwaju Ifedayo, Comrade Mandela, Comrade Odugbemi, and others.
