STRENGTHENING AGRICULTURE, EMPOWERING FARMERS: HON. DR. PRINCESS ADESOLA AYOOLA-ELEGBEJI AT REMO FARMERS’ DAY 2026

Hon. Dr. Princess Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji, Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency, on Saturday, 24 January 2026, attended the Remo Farmers’ Day Celebration held at the Akarigbo Palace, Sagamu.

The event, organized by the Proactive Remo Ita-Oba Farmers’ Cooperative Multi Purpose Society Limited, brought together farmers, traditional rulers, cooperative leaders, and government officials to celebrate agriculture and food security in Remo Land.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Dr. Elegbeji described farmers as the backbone of the economy and reaffirmed her commitment to practical interventions that support agricultural productivity and income growth. She disclosed that the 2026 budget includes targeted empowerment programmes for Remo farmers.

According to her, the interventions will cover access to quality seedlings, modern farming equipment, and capacity building aimed at boosting household incomes, enhancing food security, and building long-term resilience.

She emphasized the need for sustained collaboration among farmers, cooperatives, traditional institutions, and government to address challenges such as climate change, rising input costs, and market access.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including traditional rulers, Hon. Biyi Adeleye, and the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya, among others.

Hon. Dr. Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji appreciated the farmers for their resilience and dedication, while wishing them a productive and prosperous 2026.
